What SRA regulation means for you

The Solicitors Regulation Authority regulates solicitors, law firms and their staff in England and Wales. Where your legal work is handled by MB Legal Solicitors Ltd, you benefit from the protections that come with dealing with an SRA-regulated firm.

Professional standards

SRA-regulated firms and solicitors must meet the SRA Principles and Codes of Conduct, including duties of honesty, integrity and acting in your best interests.

Professional indemnity insurance

SRA-regulated firms are required to maintain professional indemnity insurance covering the legal work they carry out.

A route to complain

If something goes wrong with the legal service you receive, there is a formal complaints process — first to the firm, and then to the Legal Ombudsman where appropriate.

You can verify the firm

You can check the firm's registration, status and the individuals authorised to work there on the public SRA register at any time.

More information about the protections available to clients of SRA-regulated firms is published by the SRA at sra.org.uk/consumers.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with any aspect of the legal service you receive from MB Legal Solicitors Ltd, you should raise it with the firm in the first instance. Every SRA-regulated firm is required to have a written complaints procedure and to tell you how to use it.

If the firm cannot resolve your complaint to your satisfaction, you may be able to refer it to the Legal Ombudsman, an independent body that resolves complaints about legal services. The Legal Ombudsman normally expects a complaint to have been made to the firm first, and there are time limits for bringing a complaint.

Concerns about the professional conduct of a solicitor or firm — as distinct from the service you received — can be reported to the Solicitors Regulation Authority.
